Dr Andrew Pirie has been at the forefront of the Tasmanian Wine Industry for some 30 years during which time he has overseen a quiet revolution in quality. Tasmania does not necessarily have the ideal climate for wine-making. It suffers from strong winds and a cool maritime climate so it is essential to choose well protected sheltered spots to plant the vines. But this cool climate suits Riesling very well producing wines of great interest that work superbly well with food.

With its zesty lime notes and complex elements of fennel, cumin and green apples it makes a wonderful companion to Pork dishes particularly any with a little Asian spicing and maybe a few noodles.
