Chardonnay is Cool Again
This cracking case features two bottles of each of the wines below and at a saving of £5 over the normal retail price
Forget what the ABC club (anything but chardonnay) have been preaching, times have moved on and there are some fabulous Chardonnays out there to be enjoyed with gusto. Even those Chardonnays aged in oak barrels the bête noir of the ABC club now have much greater balance. Remember the use of oak is simply like the use of seasoning by a chef, goods ones season brilliantly others do not. Here I have chosen a selection of Chardonnays to soften the hardest heart delicious on their own but all brilliant companions to a good dish. Enjoy and know that you are so so cool!
Montevista Chardonnay, Chile 2010
Ripe peach fruit flavours and a lovely rich mouth feel
Finca Los Primos Chardonnay 2009, Argentina
Stainless steel fermented to give good crisp citrus flavours think mini Chablis
Katherine Hills Unoaked Chardonnay 2010, South Australia
It’s all in the name, unoaked but ripe fruity and succulent weight. Sheila’s & Katherine’s will adore it!
Waterstone Bridge Reserve Chardonnay, Victoria Alps, Australia 2008
30% of the fruit was fermented in new French oak to give it that delightful buttery character that overlies the ripe peach and melon notes. Perfect with creamy pasta or chicken kiev
Domain Felines Jourdan Roussane Chardonnay 2010
This wine from the South of France features one of the local heroes Roussane blended with Chardonnay to stop it all becoming a little overblown thanks to the warm climate. I always give this to the ABC club to make them eat their words.
Domain Chanson Vire Clesse, France 2009
Now we are getting to the spiritual home of chardonnay, Burgundy. Were they know, more than a thing or two about how to turn it into great wine. This wine is simply Very Classy!
