Delivering Adventures in Wine

Each week in our Wine Bar we offer three or four Reds by the glass and the same number of white wines, add to this two Rose’s a Prosecco and a Champagne by the glass. All of which is great but I recently reminded myself of our mission statement ‘ To Deliver Adventures in Wine’ so I have revisited the wines we are offering and henceforth we will no longer order standard wines such as Pinot Grigio or Chilean Merlot but instead look to show something a little more esoteric.

The selections will change according to availability or my whim but currently these include

White Wines

Alpha Zeta Soave, Italy

A lovely crisp dry wine made by Flying Winemaker Matt Thomson

Percheron Chenin Blanc Viognier, Western Cape, South Africa

This is a delicious blend of two grapes the Chenin giving fresh tropical fruit flavours with the Viognier adding texture and rose petal aromas

Snapper Rock, Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, New Zealand

Alright I know New Zealand Savvy is hardly ground breaking but this is a really sound example and sometimes you have o give the people what they want.

Vila Regia Douro Branco, Portugal

There is a lovely summery freshness about this Portuguese wine with its delicate aromas of flowers over gentle citrus notes making this a lovely refreshing glass of wine

Red Wines

Brisa Carmenere, Chile

Ok I know I said no boring Merlot but Carmenere is a much more interesting and underated varietal than Merlot here producing real depth of colour big flavours and smooth tannins

Homme de Pays Syrah, Languedoc, France

Boris Kovac is a bit of a madman but he makes interesting wines with a real sense of place.

Finca Del Alta Reserve Malbec, Argentina

Amazingly good value Malbec with all the qualities you would hope for

La Passeria Primotivo, Puglia, Italy

Dark red fruit, well balanced acidity with a lovely smooth finish that should remind you to explore of this countries produce
